One morning Princess Toadstool was in the garden watching the butterflies flutter. Suddenly a shadow builds over her. Its Bowser floating overhead. The Princess has repeatedly said no but King Bowser is determined to make the Princess his. He swoops down in the Koopa Kopter and takes the Princess to his castle.
The Princess cried for help and Mario quickly went to her rescue. Of course Mario wasn't going to let Bowser keep the Princess so he quickly went to Bowser's castle.
Bowser's copter beat Mario and Bowser pulled up the drawbridge on his castle and holding the princess, went into hiding.
Mario barged through the closed door and starts brawling with all the Koopas in his sight. A few blows each sent these guards packing. Mario soon charged into the throne room dimly lit by chandeliers and candle light.
Peering through the darkness Mario's heart leeps when he sees Princess Toadstool dangling from a rope high above. From a perch high on a chandelier, Bowser has gone into a full gloat. Mario leaps on another chandelier and wipes the smirk off Bowser's face with an impressive fight.
Helped by hints from the Princess, Mario shatters the chain holding Bowser's chandelier. This sends Bowser plummeting to the floor. It appers Mario has beaten Bowser once again.
As Mario goes to untie the princess a huge, unseen force hits the castle sending Mario clear from the castle. When Mario lands on nearby Vista Hill he turns around to see a gigantic sword crash through the roof of the castle. The earth trembled and lightning races across the suddenly black sky.
With a sneer that could cut granite, the inruder warns everyone in the land. The sword, called Smithy, vows world conquest. Questions rush through Mario's head. What is this thing? Can anyone defeat its power? Where's is the Princess? Mario is determined to get answers. But he knows he'll need all the help he can get.
