Star Ocean is quite possibly one of the best RPG's around. Its uniqueness in development makes it intriguing and enjoyable to play. For instance, stats do not increase with level, only HP and skill points. Skill points can be invested into skills, which may raise individual stats and give the character abilities, such as pickpocketing and scouting. Item creation skills are required to obtain the most potent weapons and items. The hours and hours of gameplay almost require a purchase; it cannot be finished in simply a few rentals. Also, the game has a high replayability value. You may play as one of two main characters, and you may only obtain 8 of 11 characters in one play. You should rent it to see if you like it. If you do... buy it. If not, never touch it again.
